Involvement through News and Civics is a volunteer-based non-profit organization.
In January 2007, Inc launched a pilot version of its Family Reading Initiative in Spartanburg, S.C., and will launch the Family Reading Initiative in Atlanta in January 2009.
Inc is run by a Board of Directors, advised by the National Advisory Council, put into action through hard working volunteers and supported by our generous donors.
However, the most important contribution to Inc is our families. The families Inc supports are the core of the organization and are the source of Inc's efforts and motivation.
Inc is organized in a way that allows for the greatest effectiveness and efficiency to better serve these families.
The Inc structure is broken down into three areas of focus: Family Reading Initiative, Operations and Brand Development.
Operations includes fund development and assessment, Brand Development oversees communication and outreach and Family Reading Initiative encompasses program implementation as well as participant recruitment and retention.
Every day, Inc works to uphold the highest principles and achieve the organizations mission and vision through adherence to strict values.
Mission Statement:
Inc promotes learning, community awareness and civic involvement by providing free daily newspapers to families for whom subscriptions are a financial luxury, while inspiring strong relationships between newsrooms and communities.
Vision Statement:
Inc’s family reading initiative will integrate learning into the daily routines of its participants, will help find and gone their civic voices and will empower them to create systematic change in their lives and communities. Inc changes people, and people change communities
