Newspapers are often taken for granted in today's world.
But there are countless families in every city who would be thrilled to open their door each morning and find a paper.
Unfortunately, the cost of a subscription cannot come before food or bills or clothing for these families.
So, each day, these parents miss the opportunity to read about news that will affect their lives.
Each day, their children miss the opportunity to develop the daily habits of reading that could lead them on a path toward lifelong learning.
Each day, these families miss the opportunity to use shared knowledge to strengthen the relationships inside their home.
Involvement through Newspapers and Civics is working to remove the price tag from a daily newspaper subscription for qualified families in an effort to promote learning, community awareness and civic involvement.
But Inc doesn't just write a check for the subscriptions.
We've created a Family Reading Initiative that targets each member of our participant households and works to provide opportunities for discussion, writing, additional reading and action.
We don't only want to provide information, we want to provide our parents and their children with the tools to seek information and create change with their own hands.
We believe this great change begins with a daily newspaper on the front steps of these families homes.
Then, the reading will breed discussion.
This discussion will create new perspectives.
And those new perspectives will lead to action.
That action will ultimately lead to change.
Change in their lives.
Change in their homes.
Change in our communities.
Inc is working to build a more informed citizenry.
Through our Family Reading Initiative, our participants will not only learn about what is happening in their community, but they will learn how to navigate the civic process in order to make things happen for themselves, their families and their neighbors.
Thank you so much for your interest in Inc.
Sincerely,

Jeff Romig Founder and Executive Director Involvement through Newspapers and Civics
